Dr Andrea Leong grew up in regional Victoria and completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Monash University. After a couple of years as a lab technician with the Biointerface Engineering group at the Industrial Research Institute Swinburne, she moved to Sydney where she completed a PhD in antibacterial surface coatings at UNSW and the Brien Holden Vision Institute. She now works in microbiome research with a biotech company in the chronic diseases space. Andrea led the Science Party NSW branch from 2016 to 2018 before moving into the federal leadership.
